Overview
Introduction for prospective programme participants
All nurses and nursing associates who qualified within the last 12 months and hold – or are about to hold – a substantive salaried role are entitled to a place on the national General Practice Preceptorship programme developed by SNEE Training hub. The SNEE TH Preceptorship programme aims to meet both the National Preceptorship Framework for Nursing & the NMC Principles of Preceptorship upholding the National Preceptorship Quality Mark Award, gained in March 2024.
For further information on the IQM Quality Mark please read more from our Success Stories
The nursing programme is a one year scheme designed to support newly qualified nurses (qualified within the last 12 months) in their early career as they become an embedded part of the primary care team in the Primary Care Network (PCN). New to practice nurses are also invited to participate. SNEE Training Hub incorporate and ensure all the “fundamental” training required is accessible to the preceptee.
The nursing associate programme is 12 months duration aimed to support wellbeing and enable networking, learning and development.
The key aim of the Preceptorship programme is to improve the level of patient care by supporting GPN development. This scheme also acts as a vehicle for recruitment and retention of GPNs in the general practice workforce. The programme facilitates mutually beneficial working arrangements between GPNs, general practices and third party/ specialist host organisations across the ICS region. SNEE Training hub will also ensure a supportive clinical supervision environment (planned support from an identified person within the practice area) in line with National guidance.
Preceptorship posts provide the opportunity for GPNs to consolidate and develop clinical skills, and/or develop leadership, education or managerial capabilities within a supportive environment while also offering educational opportunities.
