NSFT’s Initial Response Service would like to invite you to work with them to help shape the service.

We are currently developing our clinical service model, and your views, comments, and feedback are essential. Your insight will directly influence the final design and outcomes of the service.

To participate, we are hosting an in person workshop and an online session. Here is the time and place:

What is the Initial Response Service?

The Trust intends to implement a new Initial Response Service (IRS) aligned to national standards for timely mental health access. The IRS will ultimately provide:

Provides 24/7 screen and clinical triage
Handles all urgent and very urgent calls
Ultimately includes screen and triage for routine referrals
Integrates with NHS 111 Mental Health Option to support seamless access
Operates from two dedicated IRS centres one in Norfolk and one Suffolk

The IRS will also consider digital solutions including integration with the current and new EPR, innovative solutions and streamlined processes.

Why is change needed?

Current pathways for very urgent, urgent and routine mental health referrals are fragmented and inconsistent. There are multiple entry points creating delays, duplication, and variable patient experience in NSFT. This causes confusion and poor experience for patients, their support people and professional referrers.
