New face-to-face event focusing on weight management medicines.
Pharmacy professionals are increasingly central to the safe and effective supply of weight management medicines. Prescribing perspectives: a focus on weight management is designed to support them in delivering structured, person-centred consultations. The programme is open to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists, and is relevant whether medicines are supplied via independent prescribing or under a Patient Group Direction.
Before the live workshop, participants complete a self-directed e-course and a self-assessment based on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Framework for all prescribers, helping them focus on individual learning needs. In the workshop, they will practise encouraging patient storytelling, asking targeted questions, documenting accurately and working through a clinical conundrum before learning the real consultation outcome.
Peer networks are a key feature. Learners will analyse a peer debrief, consider how to actively support colleagues, and reflect on improving service quality in their own settings. After the workshop, online discussion boards provide space to share resources and ideas to enhance weight management medicines services.
By the end, participants will have developed a structured approach to consultations, improved documentation, and built professional networks for ongoing development.
