• How to perform spirometry to the recommended quality assured standard (practical)

• COVID and spirometry in practice

By the end of the course delegates will:

• Understand pre-test requirements and patient safety

• Infection control measures for equipment maintenance

• Equipment calibration / verification both technically and biologically

• CQC Requirements

• Recognise common errors when performing the test

• Understanding technical acceptability and reproducibility

• Obtain a quality assured spirometry trace, with basic interpretation

• Define airflow limitation

• Reversibility and guidelines

• Diagnosis

• When to refer

By the end of the course delegates will:

• Understand the pathophysiology of obstructive and restrictive lung disease

• Recognise different severities of obstruction

• Be able to understand positive and negative reversibility in accordance with national and BTS guidance

• Diagnose case studies from the workbook issued with the course

Training is only available to Suffolk & NE Essex primary care staff.

Sessions are held at the Venue and invitations are mailed out to delegates one week before each event. Please ensure to check spam filters for emails.
