This course is the complete training for those in Suffolk and North East Essex wishing to learn how to take cervical screening samples. It covers all the required elements to become registered as a cervical screening sample taker.

The course is aimed at registered nurses, midwives and registered nursing associates (see guidance for further details on nursing associates undertaking cervical screening or contact us for further information).

The course will cover:

• directed pre-course reading (approximately 3 hours)

• initial screening (theory) learning

• external assessment

• submission of the completed training record (verified by the trainee, mentor, assessor and training provider)

The trainee sample taker will need to arrange a visit to colposcopy and the laboratory, undertake a series of samples both observed and unobserved as well as completing a series of assessments to prove competence. For further information on the education pathway for cervical screening please see Education pathway – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Once ticket secured via Eventbrite you will receive a detailed booking form for completion, without this we cannot accept your place on the course, as these assess your eligibility to undertake the training course.
