Next Generation GP Programme

A leadership development programme for emerging GP leaders.

What is Next Generation GP?

Next Generation GP is a nationally recognised leadership programme consisting of 5 monthly evening sessions with inspirational leaders, designed by, and for ST3 and ST4 trainees and GPs within first 7 years of qualification.

Our aim is to inspire, engage and empower newly qualified GPs to become informed leaders and effective change makers within general practice and the wider NHS.

What is the aim?

The programme is designed so participants feel:

  • Energised – Through exposure to inspiring leaders, personal stories, and diverse perspectives from across the NHS and beyond.
  • Engaged – Through a supportive, local network of like‑minded trainees and early‑career GPs across Suffolk and Norfolk.
  • Empowered – Through practical workshops that build leadership capability, system understanding, and the skills needed to influence change.

Participants will benefit from the unique opportunity to meet, engage with, and ask questions of a diverse group of leaders in healthcare. Each evening is divided into two parts. The first is a themed workshop, talk or facilitated group work session.

Complementing each of these will be an interview with the speaker, with time for the audience to put their own questions to our guests. These events will be a mix of virtual and face-to face sessions, and will be a fantastic opportunity to build relationships with like-minded colleagues in your area.

Three events will be held virtually and two will be held in your area. All events will be held during the evening, 7.00pm-9.00pm.

*To ensure maximum benefit from the programme, participants must commit to attending at least 4 out of the 5 sessions and participate in an evaluation process.
